SAP Security Note
High priority
SAP security note 1700224, "Potential modif./disclosure of persisted data in SAP ME", is a program error note released on 08.10.2013. Below are the symptom and SAP recommended solution.
Description
Symptom
An attacker can exploit SAP Manufacturing Execution and use specially crafted inputs to modify database commands. This results in either the retrieval of additional information, or the modification of data persisted by the system.
Solution
SQL injection vulnerabilities have been addressed in SAP Manufacturing Execution 6.0SP03.
The vulnerabilities were not revealed in any of the releases prior to 6.0SP3.
Reason and prerequisites
The problem is caused by an SQL injection vulnerability. The code composes an SQL statement that contains strings that can be altered by an attacker. The manipulated SQL statement can then be used to retrieve additional data from the database, or to modify the data.
