SAP security note 1673177, "Unauthorized modification in ITS-Service in IS-OIL-DS-SSR". Below are the symptom and SAP recommended solution.
Description
Symptom
IS-OIL-DS-SSR can be abused by a malicious user, allowing them to modify displayed application content without authorization and potentially obtain authentication information from other legitimate users.
Solution
Please apply this note or import the changes via the relevant support package. The corrections of this note only have a protective effect if the corrections of SAP Note 1621946 and SAP Note 1488500 are implemented.
Reason and prerequisites
ITS Services (OIRHWOSMO, O3RH01, O3RH31, O3RH41, O3RH51) within IS-OIL-DS-SSR do not sufficiently encode output parameters, resulting in a cross-site scripting vulnerability.
Cross-site scripting can be used to steal another user’s authentication information, such as data relating to their current session. A malicious user who gains access to this data may use it to impersonate the user and access all information with the same rights as the target user.
If an administrator is impersonated, the security of the application may be fully compromised.
