SAP security note 1612718, “Missing authorization check in PDS_MAINT”, is a program error note released on 13.12.2011. Below are the symptom and SAP recommended solution.
Description
Symptom
An authenticated user can use functions of PDS_MAINT to which access should be restricted. This may result in an escalation of privileges.
Solution
Implement this note. PDS_MAINT will also check whether the user has authorization to display and/or change a PDS in a certain plant.
Reason and prerequisites
PDS_MAINT does not contain authorization checks for verifying an authenticated user’s authorization to access some of its functions. Access cannot be restricted to a specific plant. This may result in undesired system behavior, where unauthorized users may change restricted master data.
