Symptom
A Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability has been identified in the Memory Snapshot creation process within SAP systems. This vulnerability allows an attacker to prevent legitimate users from accessing a service by either crashing or flooding the service. The potential impacts include:
- Service Disruptions: Long response delays and service interruptions, degrading the experience for legitimate users.
- Availability Impact: Direct negative effect on system availability.
Solution
To mitigate this vulnerability, apply the kernel patch level specified in SAP Note 2292714. The patch introduces an upper limit for the size of all memory snapshot files on a server, controlled by the new profile parameter abap/memory_inspector_files_limit_MB. The default value is set to 2,000 MB.
