Description

Symptom

The BSP_WD_NM_SUB BSP application can be abused by a malicious user, allowing them to modify displayed application content without authorization and potentially obtain authentication information from other legitimate users.

Solution

Implement the provided corrections as outlined in the Correction Instructions section below.

Reason and prerequisites

The following BSP pages do not sufficiently encode the input parameters, resulting in a reflected cross-site scripting issue:

  • BSP_WD_NM_SUB\SESSION_SINGLE_FRAME.HTM
  • BSP_WD_NM_SUB\SESSION_BUFFERED_FRAME.HTM

A reflected cross-site scripting attack can be used to non-permanently deface or modify displayed content from a website. It can also be used to steal another user’s authentication information, such as data related to their current session. An attacker who gains access to this data could impersonate the user and access all information with the same rights as the target user.

Affected components

  • BBPCRM 520
  • BBPCRM 600
  • BBPCRM 700
  • BBPCRM 701
