Unauthorized modification of displayed content in CRM-ISA, SAP security note 1861295

SAP Note 1861295

SAP security note 1861295, "Unauthorized modification of displayed content in CRM-ISA". Below are the symptom, SAP recommended solution and the affected software components.

Description

Symptom

CRM-ISA can be abused by an attacker, allowing them to modify displayed application content without authorization, and to potentially obtain authentication information from other legitimate users.

Solution

This security note includes Java corrections for E-Commerce and Web Channel.

  • Apply the Support Package patch level attached to this note.
  • For more information about applying Java patches, refer to Note 877887.
  • See Note 1546959 for information about the patch strategy.

Reason and prerequisites

Pages within CRM-ISA do not sufficiently encode output parameters, resulting in a reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. An attacker can exploit this to non-permanently deface or modify displayed content or steal authentication information, potentially compromising the security of the application.
