SAP security note 1695059, "Unauthorized modification of displayed content in CRM Email". Below are the symptom, SAP recommended solution and the affected software components.
Description
Symptom
CRM Email can be abused by an attacker, allowing them to modify application content, persist the modified content without authorization, and potentially obtain authentication information from other legitimate users.
Solution
Implement the correction provided in the security note.
Reason and prerequisites
The SICF handler class CL_CRM_MAIL within One-to-One email integration does not sufficiently encode input parameters, resulting in a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability. An attacker can exploit this to deface or modify displayed content from a website or steal another user’s authentication information, potentially compromising the entire application’s security if an administrator is targeted.
